*** The U.S. ARMY has assigned an NSN to the ALSET-400
*** DLA is now filling orders for the ALSET-400 (June 2012)
The "ALSET-400", Aviation Life Support Equipment Tester, is engineered for the U.S. Army & U.S. Army National Guard. The "ALSET-400" is a lightweight, compact hand held multi-purpose digital tester that can be programed for time & OHM resistance to test military and commercial Alkaline & Lithium batteries. It is programmable for 50 custom batteries of your choice. The "ALSET-400" also tests Distress Marker Strobe Lights (SDU-5/E & MS-2000M) flash rate per minute, Flight Helmet Earphones, Boom Microphones, Communication Cords, Oxygen Mask Microphones & Headsets. It is also an OHM and Volt Meter used to isolate defective component parts using the test leads provided. The "ALSET-400" is capable of testing all 4 ANVIS Mount NVG electrical contacts, ANVIS Mount wiring, battery pack switch & voltage of the batteries in the Low Profile Battery Pack and the Low Battery Indicator (LBI) Light Circuit.
The "ALSET" Tester has a convenient fold out stand for desk top use
A detailed easy to use User's Manual is included
STROBE LIGHT TEST MODE
ALSET tests both MS-2000M & SDU-5/E Strobe Lights for flash rate per minute
Test Strobe by flashing twice over Strobe Sensor Window on ALSET
Flash rate per minute test results in 2 flashes on display
COMMUNICATIONS TEST MODE
ALSET tests Flight Helmet Earphones, Communication Cord & Boom Mic for OHMS & Continuity
IHADSS Comm Cord Adapter P/N 14229-15 for Tempest Jack Plug
By plugging the Flight Helmet Communications Cord plug (U-174/U) into the "ALSET-400", the OHMS and continuity of the Earphones, Boom Microphone and Communications Cord as well as the Oxygen Mask Microphone can all be tested. An optional IHADSS Comm Cord Adapter (P/N 14229-15) is available for the Tempest Jack Plug. The OHMS function of the "ALSET-400" can also isolate defective component parts using the provided test leads (i.e. earphones & microphones).
NVG/ANVIS TEST MODE
NVG LBI Test Adapter inserted into ANVIS Helmet Bracket on HGU-56/P
NVG LBI Test Adapter (P/N 14229-7) in ANVIS Helmet Mount Bracket for testing
Test mode for 3V Low Profile Battery Pack voltage
An NVG LBI Test Adapter (P/N 14229-7) is provided with the "ALSET-400". It will test the voltage of the batteries in the Low Profile Battery Pack, the Battery Selector switch, the connection and continuity of the wiring along with all 4 ANVIS Helmet Mount NVG electrical contacts. The "ALSET-400" places the exact mili-amp load on the system during testing as an actual Night Vision Goggle in the "ON" mode for 5 seconds, testing the entire system with load accuracy. The NVG LBI Test Adapter is powered by two 1.5V AA batteries and will perform an LBI Light Circuit Test by illuminating the LBI Light and displaying the voltage reading on the ALSET when illuminated. The NVG LBI Test Adapter does not require annual calibration.
BATTERY TEST MODE
PRC-90 Radio Battery being tested with the programmed 130 OHMS/10 Second test.
The pre-programmed Battery Test Mode easily allows the user to test batteries with and without OHMS resistance and time as per Technical Manual requirements. The pre-programmed batteries include both Alkaline & Lithium: AAA, AA, C, D (1.5V), 9V Alkaline, 6.4V Lithium SDU-5/E Strobe (100 OHMS/10 Sec. Test), 12V Lithium PRC-90 Radio Battery (130 OHMS/10 Sec. Test), 3V NVG Battery Pack. 50 additional custom batteries of your choice may be programmed into the Custom Battery Mode. This Custom Battery Program allows you to program and save VOLTAGE, OHMS RESISTANCE and TIME for battery testing.
The "ALSET" is also an OHM & Volt Meter used to isolate defective component parts using the test leads provided.
The "ALSET" Tester is complete with Rubber Boot & Dust Plug, NVG LBI Test Adapter, Test Leads, User's Manual and Hard Protective Case
