The "ALSET-100" (GEN III), Aviation Life Support Equipment Tester, is a lightweight, compact hand held multi-purpose digital tester for the Air National Guard. It is engineered and programmed to test both Alkaline & Lithium military and commercial batteries, Distress Marker Strobe Lights (LED & Xenon), Flight Helmet Earphones & Wiring, Communication Cords, Oxygen Mask Microphones, Headsets, Boom Microphones and Night Vision Goggle brackets, batteries and Low Battery Indicator (LBI) Light Circuit. The "ALSET-100" is also an OHM & Volt Meter used to isolate defective component parts with the test leads provided. The U.S. Air Force has approved the use of "ALL" model ALSET Testers (-100, -200 & -400) based on commonality.

By plugging in the Flight Helmet Communications Cord jack (U-174/U) into the "ALSET-100", the OHMS and continuity of the Flight Helmet Earphones, Oxygen Mask Microphone and Communications Cord can all be tested. The OHMS function of the "ALSET-100" can isolate defective component parts (i.e. earphones & microphones).

The "ALSET-100" is a battery tester with a pre-programmed Battery Mode that allows the user to test batteries with and without OHMS resistance and time per Technical Orders. The pre-programmed batteries include both Alkaline & Lithium: AAA, AA, C, D (1.5V), 9V Alkaline, 6.4V Lithium SDU-5/E Strobe (100 OHMS/10 Sec. Test), 12V Lithium PRC-90 Radio Battery (130 OHMS/10 Sec. Test), 9V Lithium URT-33C/M-D Survival Beacon (130 OHMS/10 Sec. Test), 3V NVG Low Profile Battery Pack, 3.2V & 3.6V Lithium NVG.
50 additional custom batteries of your choice may be programmed into the Custom Battery Mode. This Custom Battery Mode allows you to program and save VOLTAGE, OHMS RESISTANCE and TIME for battery testing.

The ALSET Tester is capable of testing NVG Lithium Batteries (both the Low Profile Battery Pack & Helmet Bracket while installed), continuity of the wiring, the switch and the Low Battery Indicator (LBI) Light circuit. It is capable of testing all 4 NVG Helmet Mount electrical contacts for voltage. The ALSET places the exact mili-amp resistance on the system during testing as an actual Night Vision Goggle in the "ON" mode for 5 seconds. This tests the entire NVG support system with load accuracy.
